Trump's Granddaughter Seeks Expert Tips from Golf Legend Woods Prior to LPGA First Appearance
The rising star boasts substantial social media following
Kai Trump will have plenty of prominent backers as she starts her professional golf debut later this week.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be the granddaughter of a former US president, obtained a special exemption to play at Florida's Annika event in Florida.
Her grandfather, someone who loves golf, owns numerous international courses and often competes against his granddaughter.
"He's fairly competent. I shouldn't elaborate but we play tight competitions," she mentioned.
The golfer shared that Trump, who won't be present, advised her: "Just don't get nervous."
"He basically told me to compete and relax," she explained.
"To me, he's simply a regular grandfather. He can't make it for the tournament. He's busy with world affairs, so he's quite busy."
As an amateur, Kai has participated in a mere three competitions recently and maintains ranking 461 in AJGA standings.
However she can get advice from Tiger Woods, in a relationship with Kai's mother.
"He is the best player worldwide," Kai expressed.
"And he's a more impressive person. He suggested me to go out there, enjoy myself, and go with the flow."
The golfer will compete against several the biggest names in professional golf at this tournament, including world number two the champion, England's golfer Hull, Lexi Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.
Tournament organizers mentioned that her participation exposes the sport to new audiences, particularly with youth audiences.
Kai has millions of followers and recently launched her own clothing and lifestyle brand.
The competition starts at 17:30 GMT.
